What Connectify does
Many university Wi-Fi networks need you to sign in on a web page (a "captive portal") before the internet works. Connectify signs in for you, using the Student ID and password you saved, and then checks that the internet is open.
What is stored on your device
- Your Student ID and password. Encrypted with a key held by the Android Keystore or the iOS Keychain. They are never written to logs, never included in backups and never shown again after you save them (the password field stays blank when you edit).
- Settings (theme, language, how often to re-check, start on boot).
- Counters and an activity log (the last 200 events such as "Wi-Fi available" or "Signed in"). The log never contains your ID, password, login tokens or web addresses.
You can remove all of this at any time with Settings → Delete all data, or by uninstalling the app.
What leaves your device
- Your credentials are sent only to the login page of the Wi-Fi network you are connected to, and only when that network matches a campus network the app knows about. They are never sent over mobile data or a VPN, and never to us or any third party.
- Connectivity check. To find out whether the internet is open, the app makes a small, plain request to a connectivity-check address operated by Google (
connectivitycheck.gstatic.comandclients3.google.com, the same ones Android uses). Like any web request, this reveals your network's IP address to Google. No personal data is included. If your campus blocks these addresses the app falls back and retries.
Connectify has no backend, so we receive nothing: no usage data, no crash reports, no identifiers.
Permissions, and why
- Location (while using the app). Android and iOS only reveal the name of the Wi-Fi network you are on if location is allowed. Connectify uses that name to decide whether to sign in, so it never offers your password to an unknown network. Your location is never read, stored or sent.
- Notifications. A small status icon while Connectify is watching (Android), and an alert if your password is rejected.
- Run in the background / foreground service (Android). So login keeps working with the app closed.
- Start on boot (Android, optional). To resume watching after a restart.
- Network access. To reach the login page and the connectivity check.
Safety limits
After 3 login attempts in a row are rejected, Connectify stops and asks you to update your password. This protects your university account from being locked.
Children
Connectify is intended for university students and collects no personal data from anyone.

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date.
